On 15 August 1947, India became a free nation after a long struggle against colonial rule. That freedom wasn’t handed over easily. It was won through the courage, sacrifice and patience of countless people, many of whom we will never know by name.
For children, history can feel like a list of dates. Independence Day is a chance to make it personal. Someone stood up so that we could grow up free to speak, to learn and to choose.
We hoist the tricolour, sing the national anthem and remember the freedom fighters. But the day also asks something of us: to be honest, to be kind, and to look after the country we’ve inherited.
At Sharada Prabha, we hope our children grow up proud of Bharat, and responsible enough to build it.
