At Sharada Prabha, yoga and meditation are introduced from Playgroup onwards. We see them not as exercise or a special event, but as tools that help a child feel steady in body, calm in mind and at ease with themselves.
More Than Stretching
The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit yuj, which means “to join”. It brings body, breath and mind together. For children, this begins very simply: sitting tall, breathing slowly, stretching gently and noticing how they feel.
Meditation adds the quiet part. A few still moments help a restless mind settle, and a settled mind learns better.

In our koSha framework, yoga and meditation nurture the vital layer of the child, the energy and breath that connect body and mind. Yoga Nidra, a guided deep-relaxation practice, helps children unwind and rest.
What Children Gain
Yoga supports good health and posture and calms the mind. Meditation builds concentration and supports overall well-being.
These aren’t skills children learn once and forget. They are habits that quietly stay with them: taking a deep breath before a test, sitting still when they’re upset, or simply feeling at home in their own body.
Yoga and meditation sit alongside Ayurveda, Sanskrit and Indian classical arts, all drawn from the wisdom traditions of Bharat. These practices are now recognised around the world for supporting learning and well-being. Come and see how they look in a real school day.
