Stories are one of the oldest ways to teach, and one of our favourites. At Sharada Prabha, storytelling is part of how children learn, not just something for story time.

Stories That Teach

A good story does what a lecture can’t. It makes a child curious, holds their attention and leaves a value behind without preaching. Through stories from Bharat’s rich traditions, children explore their cultural roots and begin to understand the values their ancestors cared about.

Listening to a story also trains the ear. Children learn to follow a thread, imagine what they can’t see and wait for the ending.

In the koSha framework, storytelling nurtures the intellectual layer of the child. Storytelling-based learning sits alongside activity-based, inquiry-based and arts-based learning in our methodology.

What Children Gain

Storytelling sparks creative imagination, encourages critical thinking and builds problem-solving and listening skills. Stories also impart values and can motivate a child during difficult moments.

Children don’t just hear stories at Sharada Prabha. Activities like public speaking and travelogues help them tell stories of their own, with growing confidence.

Every child carries stories, and every child learns from them. If you’d like to see how storytelling comes alive in our classrooms, we’d be glad to show you around.
