Art, craft, music, dance and drama are woven into learning at Sharada Prabha from Playgroup onwards. They give children a way to feel, express and create, not just to memorise.

Why the Arts Matter

Not everything a child feels can be put into words. The arts give those feelings a place to go. Our activities list names what this brings: emotional release, emotional intelligence, creativity and self-expression.

In our koSha framework, emotional development comes through the arts and nature play. A child who can express feelings freely grows into an adult who understands them.

Handicraft is part of this too. Working with their hands stimulates creativity, improves dexterity, builds self-esteem and encourages respect for local products. Kirtan, singing together, adds a sense of unity that’s hard to teach any other way.

What Children Gain

Children gain confidence in expressing themselves, creativity that doesn’t depend on a textbook, and the pride of making something with their own hands.

They also learn to appreciate the depth of India’s artistic traditions and to see them as living and joyful rather than distant.

Through the year, our students also present their learning at student-led events for parents, including a music performance and an art exhibition. It’s a lovely chance to see what they’ve made and how they’ve grown.
