International Yoga Day

June 21 @ 10:00 am - October 14 @ 5:28 am
$235

The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to join”. Body, breath and mind, all brought together. That’s really what yoga is about, long before it became a set of postures.

India gave yoga to the world, and the world has now given it a day. In 2014 the United Nations General Assembly declared 21 June as International Day of Yoga, and it was first observed in 2015.

For children, yoga is simple and practical. It teaches them to sit still, breathe slowly, stretch gently and notice how they feel. Over time it brings focus, calm and a little patience, which every classroom could use.

Yoga is part of everyday life at Sharada Prabha, so Yoga Day isn’t a one-off for our children. It’s a chance to remind them why they do what they do every morning.
